Terms of use for IceLens Stories
IceLens Stories is a creative and educational project about under-ice cameras, rigs and logbook episodes. By using this site, you agree to follow these terms and to treat the material here with the same care you bring to the ice.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not browse or use the site. Nothing here overrides the safety rules, laws or local regulations that apply where you fish.
1. Scope of the site
The site presents rigs, camera setups, episode breakdowns and logbook ideas. It is not a marketplace, booking system, safety authority or real-time conditions feed.
- Content is provided “as is” for general information and creative exploration only.
- Descriptions of ice, fish behaviour or equipment are snapshots from specific moments and are not promises about future trips.
2. No safety, weather or professional advice
Under-ice filming happens in environments that can be dangerous. Thin ice, changing weather, currents and poor visibility all carry real risk. The site cannot judge if the conditions you face are safe enough for you.
- Always follow local regulations, safety guidelines and expert advice when you go on the ice.
- Never rely on our footage, descriptions or episodes as proof that any particular lake, bay or river is safe to walk on.
- You remain fully responsible for your choices, equipment and actions on and around the ice.
Clips that look calm may still hide risks. The camera sees a narrow cone, not the full picture of the environment.
3. Intellectual property & acceptable use
Unless otherwise stated, the structure of the site, text, layout, original rigs, diagrams and under-ice footage shown here are protected by copyright or similar rights.
What you may do
- Read, watch and learn from the material for personal non-commercial use.
- Take inspiration for your own rigs and logbook formats on the ice.
- Share links to pages, episodes or articles with friends, giving clear credit to IceLens Stories.
What you may not do
- Copy large portions of text, images or video and publish them as your own.
- Sell, license or bundle our content into commercial products without explicit permission.
- Use our material in a way that suggests an official partnership or endorsement where none exists.
4. Your contributions & shared media
When you send us footage, stills, sound or stories, you remain the owner of your material. By sharing it, you grant us a permission to use it within the IceLens Stories project, subject to the agreements we make with you.
- You confirm that you have the rights to share the material and that it does not knowingly infringe the rights of others.
- You allow us to edit, curate and present your material together with commentary, diagrams or logbook elements.
- If you later wish to withdraw or limit this permission, contact us and we will work with you to adjust future use where reasonably possible.
5. Links to other sites and services
From time to time, IceLens Stories may mention or link to external tools, services or resources such as camera manufacturers, editing software or safety guidelines.
- These external sites are not controlled by us, and their content or policies may change without notice.
- Links do not mean endorsement or responsibility for how those services process your data or describe ice safety.
Before using any third-party service, please read their own terms and privacy policy and decide if they fit your needs and risk level.
6. Limitation of liability
We put effort into making the content accurate, thoughtful and useful. Still, under-ice environments remain unpredictable, and equipment may behave differently in your hands than in our stories.
- We do not guarantee that the content is complete, up-to-date or suitable for your particular conditions.
- We are not liable for losses, damage, incidents or missed fish that may occur if you decide to act based on what you see or read here.
Always combine any ideas taken from this project with your own judgement, local expertise and safety training.
7. Changes to these terms
As IceLens Stories evolves, we may adjust these terms to reflect new features, formats or legal requirements. The version posted on this page is the one that applies to your current visit.
If you have questions about any part of these terms or how they apply to a specific use case, you can reach us using the contact details on the site footer.
